I was a dreamer

When I sent Hun Yin off at KLIA 3 months ago, one of the last things she made me do was to promise that i'll visit her in Warwick. I said "I promise". I imagined i'd visit her 2 or 3 years from then, certainly not 2 months later. But here I am, writing a post on what happened last week, when i actually ACTUALLY did it :D

Let me tell you the whole story! I proposed this idea(going to UK) to a few people and they were like "jom ah" and they suggested we have a Euro-trip, this was going well and all except when it came to the part of who should be on our Euro-trip team. Didn't want to leave anyone out sebab nanti ada yang terasa kang. malas aku. So naturally the figure of our Euro-trip team became a double digit. So i made a mental note to go to UK in March 2010... alone. I didn't tell anyone because honestly... i don't think i'll really go there... not anytime soon anyway. Still, it wouldn't hurt to dream, i told my groupmate, Farizah Fauzi of this idea, i told her i wanna go to UK on my own someday and the day before i flew to UK she reminded me of how i told her about this a long time ago and i have actually forgotten about it, i can't believe i was actually ticking something off my "things i think i'd never do but i guess i'm wrong"

So anyway, suddenly, the Vice Dean had this meeting with us and among the things he discussed was our Eid adha break, he said something along the lines of "you get a nine-day holiday" and even then UK trip still hasn't struck me. I was thinking of following other people to perhaps Luxor Aswan Turkiye etc. It wasn't until one day i was eating at this place in our university and so happens Shadi(our egyptian friend) joined my table and we got talking and he was talking about going to Netherlands and it hit me then that maybe i should go to UK this month instead of March! and Shadi was totally encouraging me, he was like "just go!" I went straight to the tour agent and asked for the flight ticket fare. It was within my budget. Good. Now all i have to do is see if my friends in London would be able to have me over at their place. i only know 3 people in UK. Well 4 if you count Robert Pattinson. Ok lame. Anyway, I only know 3 people there and all of them aren't at the same place. Totally scattered.

Ikmal's in London. Hun Yin's in Coventry. Aina's in Canterbury. I plan to go to each of those places. So i emailed them before i bought my flight tickets and this was about 2 weeks before I actually plan to go, time was running out so i was trying to get all the information i need and also prepare for my Haematology block exam. shit. Nah kidding. I love medicine, no sarcasm, really. All three of them gave awesome responses and they were so welcoming in their emails that i bought my flight tickets right away. Aina told me if i mind the fact that i'd be alone most of the time seeing that ikmal hun yin and herself would be having classes. i told her that she just needed to tell me which places to go and i'll just go. I can't deny the fact that i am so nervous thinking i'd be roaming those English streets alone but can't help feeling excited to be on my own and see how i'd survive on my own haha.

And 24th of Dec came as it should and after taking my Haematology exam i went straight to Cairo and off to Heathrow. Hana, my housemate is with me on flights, she's visiting her sister. So, the night before, i've told Ikmal i 'll arrive at heathrow at 9pm but there was some sort of delay and my plane landed at 10pm, i was sooooo worried that ikmal would have waited for so long and think i didn't come or something because there was no way of contacting him. I went out of the airport and spotted ikmal right away and i was screaming because i haven't seen him in years! he took me to his best friend's place, Nab. We took the underground tube and along the way he told me where he would be taking me tomorrow and he was telling all sorts of things about his house and studies. Wait, hang on, places YOU would be taking me? Don't you have classes? and ikmal said he's skipping 2 days of lecture! and i love him for that! he has algebra and he doesn't always attend them anyway. i felt a surge of relief, pheww at least ikmal would be showing me around for the first couple of days, yay! so i arrived at Nab's place like midnight and ikmal was telling me to be careful because there's been random stabbing in London *shudder*. Nab's place is dead in front of Trafalgar Square! can you imagine! the place was beautiful! Ikmal introduced me to Nab and all 3 of us hung out at her place till dawn while watching Edward Scissorshand (my choice). Nab's roommate is French and i got to know her in the morning. and my vacation starts early the next day! next post next post!

together forever

i bet you've read something like this in other posts but whatever. my blog so i write whatever i want la.

i miss home! not hum eh, haha i love you hum :)

is this some sort of feeling that'll slowly go away as i sink into histology biochemistry etc.? i need to know sigh..

missing the sight of that place i call home. i'm just waiting for that special moment when i get my feet off these egyptian grounds and back to Malaysia. lama gila lagi. arghhh i'm not letting anyone come and study here if it's anywhere near my power.

i miss my parents la and my sisters and my brothers and my nieces and my neighbors. blegh.

when i was in Malaysia, i met Nicky(my very good friend) a few times and we have this group we call the alpha gang haha, sounds funny when i type it here, anyway, nicky is this smart ass who always thinks of out-of-the-box-things (what i call crazy ideas) but looking as he's a candidate who's going to oxford soon i now call those ideas as nicky's ambitious plans. okay so Nicky plans that we go to the Olympics in London in 2012, our major gathering. he's actually mentioned this since last year and everyone has actually agreed and i totally hope that i don't have exams at that particular period of time(when the Olympics is on) so that i get to attend this historical and somewhat adventurous gathering :D i'm gonna try my best to be there. because as cheesy as this sounds.. they've actually been there when i needed them. and they've actually followed through with some of nicky's ambitious plans haha and to be at such an event like the Olympics with them would be such an awesome thing. can't wait :) i miss the alpha gang... and you know what we say to each other after phone calls or emails to each other... we'll always have Olympics <3
how i hope so
insyaAllah

Tuesdays

ironically it's a Tuesday today.

last year, my elder sister asked me if i've read Tuesdays with Morrie to which i replied no. she told me i should get around to reading it.

these past few weeks my younger sister kept telling me the contents of the book and she too advised me to read it.(she does not usually tell me to do good things xD)

where have i seen the book? hmm, on my sister's bookshelf and on ika's bedside table.

i flipped open the book last night. i cried at the very start of the book and had to control myself because i realised i was crying at each chapter. the only author who has made me cry was J.K. Rowling, well until now. I could barely read with tears flowing. No really, i'm thinking there's something wrong.. with me.

I watched 'The Kite Runner' and at parts of the movie i felt lumps in my throat. IT'S JUST A MOVIE for crying out loud. bleghh, because i see that these kinda things affect me emotionally, i'm gonna make sure i don't watch or read things that may get to me. oh and you know what, i cried watching Spiderman 2.

I skipped town a few weeks ago, just for a day. When i said goodbye to my parents and nieces, i was practically weeping, even though i knew i was gonna see them the day after. i was just gone for the night and even that i can't handle.

i fear what's gonna happen on 12th Oct at the airport. ya Allah, give me strength.

For you and me

so lucky, allow me to bring light to the subject.

PICTURE THIS

there's this someone who knows you very well, he never nags you nor does he ever stop you from doing anything. he left you a note, a message, or shall i say a whole book which you got very early in life telling you a thing or two, things he wants you to know/do. he gives you things no one else can possibly give, happiness, sight, people to love, pain and if you're lucky he gives you a personal gift, only for you, only you can handle. if there's someone who can give you at least one of those things wouldn't you do absolutely anything for em? No? You won't do anything for a person who'd cause you pain? little do you know a girl/guy that you're in love with might be the reason for one heck of a heartache but you'd still do anything for em.

How generous of Allah to give and give and demand only so little in return, what? prayers 5 times a day, fast, perform pilgrimage and our undying love, between a creator and His creation, that's little, if you wanna compare to what He gives us. i can't imagine, He gives so much everyday but He gives so much more in a month called Ramadhan.

For every tiny good deed, He gives you pahala but not the usual amount, He double or triples it this month (wallahualam) it's like bonus round in a game, the time limit? one month, 30 days each year. Subhanallah. I've heard of people who don't stop berzikir because one second that you waste without doing a good deed is such a huge loss. Everyone races to the mosque every night to perform Terawikh, you only get to do it during Ramadan, oh if only we knew, the reward is... tremendous. plus, to ease our good doings, Allah has tied up all the syaitan.

Okay so there's gonna be some people who say, hmmf, only during Ramadhan do we see these people bringing themselves closer to Allah, and all the other months? they return to their own lives. Let me tell you, at least they're doing it. oh oh there was once i heard someone saying "sunat, tak payah buat". the reply that came "hello sunat la yang kena buat, nak add on pahala xcukup ke, mana la kau blaja".

alright about this Ramadhan, apart from getting multiple pahala, Allah has hidden one night, a special night, where whoever who gets the chance to encounter this 'night', is the luckiest human being to have lived. it's called malam lailatulqadr. the pahala you get for the solat etc on lailatulqadr is equals to or even better than the pahala you collect when you beribadah to Allah for 1000 months, do the math that's about 83 years. and anyone, just any tom dick or harry(muslims that is) stands a chance to stumble across lailatulqadr.

So there, i hope i'll get to benefit from Ramadhan just as i am sure you will. InsyaAllah. and also, may we get to encounter lailatulqadr this Ramadhan :) Amin.

i look at you with such disdain

i can't believe this. and i thought you of all people would actually get it. be my friend for 2 seconds will you. if i needed someone to say things like that i would've called some enemy or other. i don't need this especially from you. oh oh! thanks because now i know who you really are :) not a person i wanna be with. you, enjoy your life.

Here's the thing.

The term "I miss Malaysia" only applies when i am in Egypt. When i am anywhere else, Malaysia will not cross my mind once. I will even dread the day i have to return xD

Be hale and hearty

How can I say. Who wouldn't be happy that they've returned to a place where problems just resolve and the heart feels serenity you can find no place else. However, the bad news that followed suit sort of stirred the peace i have been looking forward to for months. I could not really hold back tears. Totally sucks when you realize there's like absolutely nothing you can do to make it better or better yet just make it go away. The fact that i was told 3 weeks later than everybody else.. I can't decide if that was a good or bad move that they made. I'm just gonna be all positive and say it was the right thing to do. Well i was having my final exams and all. Got the biggest shock when they told me, on the way back home from the airport. They kept on telling me, shouldn't be weak. Suck it in, life's gonna hand you all sorts of things. Take it like a man. Right. So the schedule i have planned for my holidays totally changed. Canceling seventy percent of it, until situations have proved to improve. Have been trying to distract myself by all means possible. Can't afford to shed a tear more. No one can stand it anymore. Given time i'm gonna accept how things have changed. Lets not talk about all this negativity anymore. What i need? Some cheering up, so i don't depress the next person who looks at my face. Yeah. I don't want to repeat this distressing subject if i can afford it.

P.S. I need you to get well soon Dad. God bless.

Egypt today...

Malaysia tomorrow xD

Camaraderie

Circumstances have changed. It's no longer months or weeks to going back home. It's days or maybe hours for some (like me). I got bored of packing and hence this post. I've been stuffing things into boxes for a good 2 hours and i still have loads to do. My room has never looked so terrible. Well i guess it happens to everyone who has to move out (did my excuse work?).

I am such a loser. I get so fucking sentimental about this kinda stuff. Goodbyes and leaving. I want nothing more than to get my feet off these Egyptian grounds but it's gonna take a few deep breaths for me to not cry. First of all let me make myself clear. I can't wait to leave Egypt okay and go to a place where i call home. Second of all... I cry over a lot of things (bet you didn't see that coming), especially goodbyes.

Can't say i hate goodbyes. It'd make things so much sorrowful if we didn't say our goodbyes. (am i sounding like a weirdo yet)

I can't believe i'm moving out of this hostel. God. I love this place. I still have videos of all of us moving in. This place looked like a hotel. We were the 1st to use everything. The toilets were shining and gleaming like those in palaces. The beds pillows tables computers were never before used till we came. I should be so lucky. I managed to get the biggest room with the best people you could have as roommates and floormates. Damn. There's gonna be some serious flood coming around when i bid them farewell.

I can't do this. Should've seen this coming. But when we moved in, it seemed like years before we had to move out... and tomorrow i'm moving out! Someone told me: to every hello there's a goodbye (whether you like it or not). Sigh. I wish i didn't get myself so attached to certain people. We're not gonna be living together anymore, God bless them, they made my life a little easier here and there and heaven knows if we're gonna even see each other anymore or be as close as we are now. Lets face it. We don't mingle in kuliah, like there's even time to go around and chat. And if we're not in the same kuliah?

I know i'm sounding a little crazy. But this is me. It's not easy for me to let go... of anything. And i'll be the one feeling all broken and the thing is i'm the only one feeling that way. Will go down memory lane ever so often and wishing if i could somehow have those old moments back. I hate that about me. Why the hell is it so hard to move on?

I may not be eager to make new friends sometimes. I fear stuff like i'll change or you change or we grow apart through all these years and ultimately that heartbreaking goodbye i'll have to face when all of us graduate and leave Egypt for good. It's too much for me. I'm sorry.

Camaraderie means friendship by the way :)

Flick and swish

Just so happens not all the cinemas here are premiering Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince.
From one cinema to another. It is so not fun people.
We had to do it. The next sane thing. Took a cab, went to another cinema and

SCORE!!!

sweet mother of popcorn!!! wasn't even a line. just went straight to the counter. this is the best thing i spent my money on for years (since the last harry potter movie of course)

It is totally expected to be less... err.. just less than the book. But heck. It has been so much awaited that i don't care! Imagined Dumbledore to have underwent much more drama before he died and the movie was sort of like... draggy at some parts.

All the same. One mission in life accomplished. 2 million more to go.

Happy. Okay. Histology now.

Ooooh in approximately 4 more days... BALIK KAMPUNG! The flight back home has come at the right time. I simply refuse to take any more of what this place has to offer. Thanks but no thanks.

Scaredy-cat

and then there were five. (papers to go)

I hate the feeling. I don't know if i'm the only one who feels it but it's one awful emotion.

We've had 2 papers so far. And each time i enter the hall, i'll be shaking like mad. My brain's all topsy-turvy and if you try talking to me then, i'll run out of breath so fast. My hands literally tremble. Dayyymn. I shouldn't allow pieces of paper to make me feel this terrible.

This usually lasts 10 to 15 minutes from the start of paper. but still.
these exams scare the daylights out of me.

people say if you're scared it's because you're not fully prepared or something but that can't be it. i'd make sure i've finished reading all that needs to be read before exam day comes.

the feeling is super unpleasant man! and to think i'd have 5 more times of this coming.

i'm going to try to control my nerves and all. it's not easy you know. not easy at all.

one more thing:
I NEED HOME

Sunday, July 5, 2009

Broken

I hear people around me talking about Malaysia like every hour. They're excited to go home. Good. I didn't really understand because I didn't really feel anything. Sure i want to go home, it's just.. instead of 'can't wait', I actually can wait for the day my flight leaves for Malaysia.

or so i thought

I realized i really really need to go home. The need is intense. Mom called as soon as exam ended today and i heard my sisters and my brother's kids in the background and i wanted to hop on any means of transportation that could send me home right that instance. I wanted to be there too. I guess what i'm trying to say is.. I miss all of them. I truly do. This has to be my weak moment. My heart really feels... well sad.

17 more days. Gosh i need to pull myself together.

Monday, June 29, 2009

Posto

This is the longest i've been without a post.

My flight home leaves in about 20 more days. and i solely believe what happens in Egypt stays in Egypt. i will not be thinking of it or anything related to it for more or less 3 months.

I'm hungry la

and sleepy.

and oh. this is a good one.

It's not fair. A smile and a nod and i'm going crazy.

Random thoughts. There's more where that came from.

Thanks Daddy for giving me every single thing my heart desires, for giving that extra hundred even when mama said we had enough and thanks, not only for being a friend but for being my best one.

Oh I'm sorry

Did my back hurt your knife?

i really don't like to express anger. but you.. ughh.. i just can't help it. why can't you just stop hovering over everything i like.. i know i shouldn't be saying things like this because i don't know you very well, yeah i don't. has it not occur to you that i might not want to share certain things... or people or person. you're one of a kind you are. and i wish i've never met you. sorry, i take that back.

i don't like this emotion. sorry, i'll turn it down a notch.

Love of My Life

Scottross Lavender Allen

you precious thang! :)

The world's best friend and the most good looking cat :) i love you

For the record he's not mine... Scotty belongs to my sister

He's got a soft spot in all of us. I mean if Scotty could speak, he'd have a castle with the beach as his sandbox. OHH and he's so friggin handsome. He doesn't go to you to give those 'puppy-dog' eyes that make you want to pat him, he makes you come to him. Really, like he has this force of attraction thing going on, you just want to be near him you know. What bugs me is he does it so effortlessly and with this scornful look on his whisky face.

"Gedik" i'll say, and i end up putting him on my lap. Sometimes when i bump into him when he's roaming the house, i'll give a little courtesy and say " Hey Your Majesty" beacause i really think he has the power to go with that title XD

I'll trade him for nothing because even though he might be just a cat to you, he stays if you want him to stay and he has never ever so much as hurt a fly, he's a real good companion. Scotty has never ever whined, even in pain. I love him for having that much pride. And to always keep his head up high and never purr for attention and is ever so patient even when we (pretend to) ignore him... he is priceless

oh and one more thing Scotty, i miss you like so much :(

What webcams are for

...when you don't have internet XD

The End.

You'd win Best Looking Person In The Room any day

Yeah you would. I'll say no more.

Aaanyway

It's like fun week or something! Picnic earlier this week and yesterday went to Uncle Saiful's house to celebrate Aunty Nana's birthday! Long story short... she's Hum's aunty. Hung out at their place from evening till late night, i didn't wanna have to head home, wanted to stay and play with the kids. Oh boy are they funny or what! We talked, fooled around and played good ol truth or dare. Seriously it was what i needed after days and days of thinking of dead bodies... and Tom and his hats and dogs and pigs.

My share of pictures

Here we are

We could do this all day.

Fresh flowers! for Aunty Nana

Too delicious to not have a third serving.

We found a full length mirror!

Oh yes we did :)

ok that's enough.
