when i was about 7 or 8, i always wished i had other people in the house other than just me, my younger sister and my mom and dad.. mind you i have 3 other siblings but they were all much older than me and were studying overseas and at boarding schools. i was soooo lonely, really i was. extremely happy when we have guests over, at least the house won't sound so hollow with other people around. i didn't really have anyone to play with or do pretty much anything with, life sucked bigtime then.
years later my eldest brother had two daughters and automatically, i have two nieces and i never thought then they'd be the best thing that's ever happened.
they're about 8 and 4 now.
they do the most arghh hair pulling things!
they squeeze out your lotion (until it's empty) on a piece of paper. they draw on your school books. they delete your programs on your laptop. they spill juice on your laptop. they drop your laptop. they call people they don't know with your phone. they finish your mp3 battery. when they enter your room it's the same as having your room hit by a tornado. they put your clean clothes with your dirty clothes. they rummage through your pencil case. they take all the pencil and highlighters. they finish the highlighter ink by not closing the cap. they lose all those small things like your rings and sim card and keys. i can go on...
but despite all these things, they make me laugh all the time. they draw me cards with my pencil and highlighters. they tried to make the card stick using my lotion. they use my laptop's webcam to take their own pictures. they save me cookies and chocolates when they have some. they shout for me when they stumble upon my favourite songs showing on tv. they would always tell me stories. they tell me whatever they're excited about. they're they tell me they love me. i can go on...
at times, they annoy the heck out of my sisters and i ...i wouldn't change that for the world. whenever they're around, there'll be a lot of yelling and crying and laughing and screaming.
but when they're not around.... it's really really gloomy
the worst part is saying goodbye to them. gosh they make everyone real sad when they have to go back home.
a few days ago my family sent me off at KLIA. i was going to go down the escalator after saying goodbye to my family only to realise i was so stupid because i didn't say goodbye to those two kids. i called out for them ( they were playing with the ATM nearby) and they came running and hugged me and say things that really made me tear up, sigh.. the things these kids can do. it's so heart wrenching to leave them when they're saying i'm going to miss you aunty thirah, bye bye. they make it millions of times harder to walk away when they're shouting after me. :'(
i'd go to the ends of the earth for those two, they really know how to make me happy in unimaginable ways and they're always saying i'm their bestfriend, and that.. is just priceless
